Rory Williams grew up around wine, the son of founders and winemakers from venerable Rutherford estates Frogs Leap and Tres Sabores.
Now in charge of Frog’s Leap, Rory’s own brand Calder (from his middle name) focuses on the heritage varieties that have been found in California for many generations. The cultivars that have been responsible for producing some of California’s greatest wines since the 50’s and continue to do so now. Like Frog’s Leap, Rory seeks out mostly older sites that have been farmed by the same generation for many years, organically,and with minimal to no irrigation.
