• One to Drink – Big Basin Coastview 2017 RRP £60. Always always always pair Chardonnay with Turkey @ Christmas dinner. Ideally something rich with depth and finesse, something restrained and not too heavy. Do we have something? From the highest vineyard in California? Funny you should ask …

• One to Gift – Ashes & Diamonds Cabernet Franc 2017 RRP £85. We hope you like this person. If you’re gifting them this wine they had better have created you or have donated you a kidney. This is a very very special wine – and definitely don’t let them drink it without you present!

• One for a Dinner Party – Matthiasson Ribolla Gialla (skins) 2020 RRP £68. A wine to open eyes. From the first (suitcase) cutting of Ribolla Gialla brought over by George Vare from Friuli in the 1980s. This is orange wine is proof that you can have stable high quality wines with skin contact which are approachable with depth and phenolic ripeness and balance and quality and all the aromatics you can handle. One to share with non-believers!

• One to Keep – Convexity 2014 RRP £70. We don’t have many old wines at Nekter – most of the people we work with are only around 10 years in and most of them didn’t start with much volume. Convexity – a project where Steve Matthiasson is the winemaker – is an exception to that. We have several cases of 2014 available … just coming into its prime … this wine will continue to develop for the next 5-10 years.
